One of the things that always seems to grind the gears of many Spartan fans is being referred to as a “Sparty.” I used the term in reference to Spartan nation as a whole in the Big Ten prediction post, and got some heat for it (no love lost for it Mike, we appreciate the feedback).
I always thought of the term as somewhat endearing, a fun alternative for saying “Michigan State fans”. But I know it bugs a lot of alums.
So we want to know, do you resent being called a Sparty? Does it drive you nuts when the media talk about MSU teams as Spartys? What’s your take on the use of “Sparty” when we’re not talking about, well, Sparty?
