So you like dem social interwebz, do ya?! Then I’ve got some good news for you. I’ve added Facebook Connect integration to the website.
What the heck does that mean? Basically, here’s the gist. You can now log in and leave comments using your Facebook profile. In many cases, if you have recently logged in to Facebook, you’ll probably see that your Facebook profile is already being used as your login for comments on the site.
When you post a comment while logged in using your Facebook account, a box will pop up that will ask if you want to publish the comment to your news feed. If you say yes, it will then post in your news feed that you made a comment, and will show the first couple lines from the blog post. Kinda like this:
The first time you leave a comment using this feature, it’s going to ask you something about sending you email. The reason it does this is because it the blog system requires a name and email (used only for comment reply notification), and Facebook sets up a “proxy email” that fills in that email field. It’s basically a dummy email address. It should only pop up after your first comment, and I promise it’s not going to send you a billion emails like the Gap does when they get your email address.
Anyway, I hope you like the new feature and the ability to easily share your comments and interaction on the site with your Facebook account. If you have any problems with the functionality, leave a comment or shoot me an email and I’ll try to figure out what the problem is.
