A week in the books Spartan Fans. It’s been a busy one. Competition at both the quarterback and running back positions. Controversy surrounding the Glenn Winston situation. MSU to play in Chicago next year? That’s right, we’ve got the links to keep you updated on the issues of the week (Sparty’s clinic on offensive line technique not included):
- Rexrode gives us his questions looking to be answered in camp this season. Doesn’t it seem like Dantonio is posturing to keep two very talented quarterbacks around, especially when one emerges this season and the other will likely spend a lot of time on the bench?
- Running back Glenn Winston was reinstated to the team after being released from jail following a fight with a Michigan State hockey player. Just about everyone had a comment on the situation, including us. To wrap, Mark Meyer says accountability needs to come from the top.
- The Associated Press’ preview of Michigan State is probably nothing you don’t already know.
- TOSOSS has a complete and succinct rundown of the possibility of Michigan State playing Florida Atlantic in either Detroit or Chicago in 2010.
- Adam Rittenberg has some way too early Big Ten bowl predictions. He’s got MSU going to the Outback bowl.
- Kicker Brett “Ice Man” Swenson was named to the preseason watch list for the Lou Groza award.
- The athletic department announced the schedules for Michigan State in 2010 and 2011.
- Joe Rexrode has some notes about what he’s seen so far from the offensive lineman.
- The news coming out of camp seems to indicate that the freshman candidates could be the real deal.
- MSU single game football tickets went on sale to the general public. You can buy them here.
- Rex covers off on some of the notes from Friday’s practice. Most interesting part for me:
Mark Dantonio broke down a lot of positional situations for us. Keshawn Martin and Mark Dell are the top two at PR. At KR, it’s Jimmerson “for sure,” with Edwin Baker, Larry Caper, Glenn Winston and Trenton Robinson competing. Also on special teams, Dantonio is hoping Kevin Muma or Dan Conroy can kick off so Brett Swenson doesn’t have to. But the best guy will do it.
