MSU is ranked #29, U-M is ranked #20. Yet again, MSU is going to win the in-state recruiting battle, pulling in around 11 recruits from the state, U-M only pulls in 4 from the state. At the rate U-M has players leave the program, though, they probably only have the 50th best recruiting class at the end of the day.

From William Gholston:

[quote]Best recruiting experience : It was at the Alabama spring game, my junior year. They allowed 160 recruits to go and I was the only one they let on the field. I was able to talk with coach (Nick) Saban for a few minutes before the game.[quote]

I swear to God, if we lose this guy to Bama I'm going to go down there and burn the campus down myself. Who's with me?

MSU received the 19th-ish commitment for the 2010 recruiting class today from two-way defensive lineman Connor Kruse. Apparently he'll be a preferred walk-on, which basically means he's 1) non-scholarship, and 2) guaranteed a walk-on spot on the team in the fall. Those aren't necessarily guarantees, but every time I've heard about preferred walk-on, those were the terms.

Connor comes from Lowell HS, the same school as backup quarterback Keith Nichol. An all-state player, Kruse won a DII state championship with Lowell this fall.

The big draw, obviously, is William Gholston. He indicated back in the fall that he would take his remaining official visits to other schools after he had already committed to Michigan State. There's no real reason to suspect that he won't end up at MSU, but crazier things have happened. I, for one, would hate to see a last-minute change and see him bolt for the SEC.
