Wilson, White Suspended Indefinitely

January 27, 2010

Warrants were authorized in Ingham County for  defensive tackle Oren Wilson and receiver Myles White. Both players are being charged with conspiracy and assault, punishable by 93 days in jail and/or a one year sentence. The ambiguously sketchy duo have been connected to the November 22 incident at Rather Hall on campus where 15-20 people [...]

MSU Helmet Logos Through the Years

January 21, 2010

After discovering that MSU is planning to update the current helmet logo to a new logo, I thought it would be fun to take  a look back through the years at some of logos we’ve used in the past for displaying our Spartan pride. This one looks more like a chicken helmet than anything aggressive [...]

Holy Helmet! MSU to Update Helmet Logo in April

January 21, 2010

Yep, that’s right, the MSU helmet logo is getting updated in April. The new logo appeared in a filing on the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, and apparently has been the culmination of a two-year redesign project between MSU Athletics and top designers at Nike. IMHO, the new logo looks more rounded and, well, frankly [...]

Post-Season Notes

January 18, 2010

A couple of post-bowl game memes I wanted to touch on now that the season is over. Spartans Fall to Texas Tech in Alamo Bowl For all the talk before the game of suspensions and terminations and how it would effect the focus of each team, the game was surprisingly competitive.  MSU lost the game, [...]

December 28, 2009

This just in from ESPN: Texas Tech has suspended coach Mike Leach from all duties, including coaching the Valero Alamo Bowl, after receiving a complaint from a player and his parents. Apparently the suspension stems from a complain by a player and his parents about the treatment of the player after he sustained some kind [...]

Welcome to Spartan Nation, LeVeon Bell

December 15, 2009

Mark Dantonio has brought in the 16th commitment of the 2010 recruiting class, running back LeVeon Bell. From Hondo: Bell held a myriad of offers, most notably from MAC schools, but this strong north south runner brings high intensity to MSU.  At 6’2” and 218 pounds, Bell has good hands and is a very good [...]

Is the Kansas Job Really Better than…?

December 13, 2009

The fall of Mark Mangino at Kansas was one of the more surprising, and quick, coaching downfalls I’ve seen in quite a while.  But more surprising, perhaps, was the short list of coaches that Kansas was apparently interested in.  Apparently on the list: Jim Harbaugh, Stanford Brett Bielema, Wisconsin Tim Brewster, Minnesota Chris Petersen, Boise [...]

Brian Kelly in as Notre Dame’s Coach, What it Means for MSU

December 12, 2009

Even if you’ve been living under the proverbial rock, you’ve no doubt heard that former Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly has left the Bearcats to become the new head coach for the Fighting Irish.  The official introduction came on Friday, though reports started to surface Thursday afternoon that Kelly was going to be the guy. Kelly, [...]
